I had chosen one of the contemporary architecture which is Brothers Brewery + Juke Joint BBQ which is partially renovated and implemented the concept of adaptive reuse into the building as the building initially was a 1960's warehouse which is already abandoned. From the existing floor plan,

Existing floor plan

I could see that the initial building has designed a sufficient space for storing purpose and the creation of form doesn't fully emphasize on the proportion of human, in contrary, it is for merchandise and goods storage so the installation of walls is not a neccessity because the division of walls may affect the placement of those large portion of merchandise that will cause insufficiency. It is also function as a workshop so it also consider natural sunlight for workers to have better working environment and also a better quality for eye contact which all were designed to fulfilled human demands by creating windows to capture sunlight which can be seen in the picture,

it is built on a higher level, therefore the form actually reveals in a way that is repetitively due to the space is designed without any complicated installation as well as a blank space. After the warehouse was abandoned, the new implementation to the building was to convert it to a craft brewery, restaurant, commercial building.

Proposed floor plan

In this case, the innovation has change the functionality of the space where it is used to design for human activities as a place for relax and eating compare to the initial used of the building which it is use to store stuff, so it functions as a commercial and the purpose is to provide a comfortable space and foods for people. This huge interior space where then divided by inserting new brewery walls and bar into the main space as to accommodate different zone for different purpose. The brewery walls are simple masonry block which were capped with concrete bar leaner, connecting customers with the brewing process and the addition of structure to provide an outdoor dining area for different user's experience, in this case due to the amount and type of users is increasingly more than the initial use which is mainly for workers where lacking of visitors compared to the recent used, however the building form still preserve and well-remained because the initial design has already deal with site context and with the concept of adaptive reuse , it should be preserve the value of the building itself as a respect rather than demolishing it which it is no doubt to change it. So, the architects ingeniously design the space by well planning the arrangement of public and private space based on the form of the building that is able to provide a quality environment and atmosphere to facilitate the user's experience with addition of landscaping to give a welcoming and warm feeling to people so they won't overwhelmed by the large portion of industrial outlook building which fully interpret that functionalism supposedly allows for structures to have a form that is perfectly tailored to the function or program because program is based on human needs and activities which can be truly be seen as simply a later phase of humanism mentioned by Peter Eisenman. I strongly agree this point because architecture is design for humanity and in my opnion I think that the consideration should be more focus on public rather than personal experience because we are living in a community.
