PAM DLS 02 : Acquire, understanding by Mohd Hatta Ismail, | PAM Public Lectures 2015 / 16 | Wednesday, 08. February 2017
A talk with the understanding of the idea of relating senses to objects and spaces towards a consciousness allowing greater insights into art, object, form and space.
Understanding of ACQUIRE.
This talk actually inspiring me on how u focus on one thing or object and explore it deeper and deeper in a point of, you will eventually know the idea of appreciation of the object.
Therefore, this practice of thinking will actually bring us to the understanding of objects and spaces are furthered through this practice of appreciation rather than the conflicting interpretations inherent within them.
At the beginning of the talk, Mohd. Hatta Ismail was sharing about his artworks, which attracted me is, he loves to use colour and texture, in a way to assist in the orchestration of objects and spaces.
Basically, u can see from his artworks that he always using one tone of the colour and play with it.
SIMPLE? RIGID?
This two artworks it may seem boring and rigid because of the simple look of it.
But for me, it actually a very interesting and mature way on how you express particular object in order to practice our thinking.
Simplicity is not simplification. Therefore i thought that may inspired DIA ATELIER to their idea of their design.
Minimal
He mentioned,
" Simplicity is not an objective in art, but one achieves simplicity despite one’s self by entering into the real sense of things.”
by, Constantin Brancusi
From my research of DIA ATELIER, this firm using minimal of design, good measured judgement.
Besides that, their design is somehow related contemporary to modern of TIMELESS space with an eclectic approach in relation to nature and environment with well orchestrated space.
And Mohd Hatta Ismail have the obsession for the art and relate back to the design on how it affect the planning of space. Therefore you will found out the design is connected with Art-Antiques with serious intent. Eventually there'll be the elements of unpredictable space , refining and properly defined to the quintessential of life. Comfort lifestyle without aesthetic or intellectual neglect .

From his talk, i learned that a good and successful design need to have the understanding of acquire though learning, thinking and developing in term of creating the sense of appreciation of the space. This would be a good practice for us student to start exploring our mind into the design and it would definitely enhance the value of the design. We shouldn't block and stop our mind, it should keep our mind thinking and develop our mindset, because i believe that outcome of the work is always start from the thinking where our mind will affect the rest of progress.
From his artwork, some may say that the work is too abstract. But sometimes the abstract is the most realistic, because what is real is not the exterior but the idea, the essence of things.
