Characters Key Development and the relationship to the Three Act

Arrival is a 2016 American science fiction film directed by Denis Villeneuve. The film adapted from the Chinese-American science fiction novelist "Story of Your Life" by Ted Chiang. The movie have two timeline, which is the present and the future. It’s about the mysterious spacecraft (UFO) landed in the world, and they are give an unknown information, and depict the United States how to split the mystery. Amy Adam cast as Louise Bank , which is a linguistics professor in a university , Jeremy Renner cast as Ian Donnelly which is a theoretical physics , and Forest Whitaker cast as a senior military official.

The movie start with a flashback that Louise Bank give birth with her daughter and lots of memories between Louise Bank and her daughter until her daughter dead at 25years , these misleading us think that these is a flashback of Louise Bank’s pity memories ,but in the coming plot will found that these are not the flashback. The “arrival” which is the mysterious spacecraft are landed in 12 difference of country. The arrival landed are alerted human and worry about what the purpose of landing in earth. It The “visitor” give out an unidentified information to every country, the military official come to Louise Bank and ask her to identify the mystery unidentified information.

Louise Bank as a transfer and decoders send to one of a spacecraft location and trying to communication with those visitor, from the first meet of the visitor , a mysterious and a quite tense atmosphere make you concentrate on any clue , and make you enduring under the tension , at the first time they fail to communication with the visitors and without any progress. The sound of the visitors speak are too weird and cannot even identify as a language. Louise Bank find a solution which is trying to use words to communication. She try to teach the visitor our own language and try to decoder their words into English and get to know the arrival is a name cal Heptapod.

When Louise Bank start to know about the language of Heptapod , she started have some few unknown memory inside her mind ,and these clues misleading audience these as a flashback at the first but then a lots of tip leading audience that’s not a flashback is a screen of future .“ When started to know about the language of the people , you will start to think as the person”.

The climax of the film is when human ask what is the purpose of landing in the earth. The translate of the answer of Heptapod which is “offer weapon”. The misunderstand between the language make human feel that the arrival want them to have a civil war between human and cause the perish of human. So that , human plan to attack the Heptapod . When this happen a screen of future come to Louise mind which is Hannah ,her daughter name .The words Hannah make Louise found that there there are some words with difference meaning . From here we know that the misunderstand between language with cause a lot of problem .

The ending of Louise found that the word “offer weapon” which is offer gift ,the gift is their language and get to know their language will get a future sight ,they offter a gift to human because they need human help after 3000 years .Louise using her future sense to tell the China the truth and make all the country stop the attack the Heptapod.

In my opinion , the film simply does not explain in detail how Louise get the general phone number ,the time is clearly paradoxical logical ,So in front of the film is based on realism of the "science fiction" as the main marketing focus, but in the end there is a unlogic buff there, Louise's story is touching but the twist of the story to tell the truth not too surprising.
